How to Merge PDFs in Order and Select Page Ranges

Order inputs, select the pages you need, and check the result before sending.

When should files be merged?

When a recipient asks for one attachment instead of several, assemble a readable sequence: main document, appendices, then supporting material. A job application might put the CV before certificates and a cover letter, subject to the employer’s instructions. Check the recipient’s format and size requirements first; some require separate files.

From selection to final review

  1. Open Merge PDF and sign in if prompted. The operation requires at least two PDFs; eligible tools include ten one-time free account operations.
  2. Choose your PDFs. The list shows each filename and page count; inspect any file whose pages cannot be read.
  3. Use Up and Down to order files, or Remove to exclude one. The controls work with touch and keyboard.
  4. Enter a page range for an individual file if needed. Optionally insert a blank separator between files, then select Merge and download the result after success.
  5. Open the result and check its first and last pages, page count, and attachment order before sharing.

How do page ranges work?

Leave a range empty to include every page of that input. Enter 1-3,5 for pages one through three followed by page five. Numbers start at 1 within each source file, not within the combined output. An inverted or out-of-bounds range now produces a clear error rather than silently merging unintended pages. To create separate PDFs from one source, use Split PDF.

Separators, size, and protected files

The blank-page option adds one page between adjacent files and changes the total page count. Combining files does not promise a smaller output. If the recipient sets a size cap, try Compress PDF and inspect readability. A damaged PDF or a file protected in a way the browser library cannot process may fail; first check it in a PDF reader. Merging neither repairs source contents nor performs OCR.

Privacy and file handling

The merge operation reads PDF contents in your browser and creates a local download link; it does not upload document pages to a Zayenha Tools conversion server. The PDF library loads from a CDN when needed. Account services and consent-based analytics follow the privacy policy. Review filenames and existing PDF metadata before sharing sensitive files; local processing does not remove personal details already inside a document.

If the download or page order is wrong

Check your connection for the processing library, verify each PDF and page range, and ensure at least two files are selected. A prior download is not the result of a new selection; run Merge again and download the link produced by the latest success. Confirm the list order before processing. For scans still stored as pictures, start with the images-to-PDF guide.
